Obituary: Martin Louis Basquez, November 30, 2010 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines December 2010 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - Dec 3, 2010 BASQUEZ Martin Louis Basquez, 47, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at his residence in Waskom, Texas. Visitation will be all day Thursday, December 2, 2010, at the funeral home with the family present from 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral service will be at 2 pm Friday, December 3, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Bronte with Cory Cornutt officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Bronte. Martin was born August 21, 1963, in Robert Lee, Texas to Matthew and Olivia Basquez. He attended and graduated from Bronte High School. Martin attended Angelo State University while working full time and raising a family, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He was a long time resident of Bronte, Texas, and later moved to Waskom, Texas. Martin had 25 years of service with American Electric Power starting out at Oak Creek Power Plant until its closing; transferred to Fort Phantom Power Plant, and then transferred to Pirkey Plant in Hallsville, Texas where he worked until his illness. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Bronte, and attended Cypress Valley Bible Church in Marshall. Martin was the embodiment of a true gentleman and he gave of himself with no expectation of anything in return. His fondest memories were of working on the Joe Rawlings Ranch in Coke County, his two beautiful children Sarah and John, and spending time with family. He was a hard worker, always trying to keep busy, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Martin loved the sport of Golf, Fishing, and enjoyed watching Baseball. He enjoyed classic movies, Music, and Reading. Martin will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Martin is survived by his daughter, Sarah Marie Basquez of San Angelo; son, John Martin Basquez of Bronte; their mother, Angie Basquez; one granddaughter, Aumri Jude Evans; his parents, Matthew and Olivia Basquez of Bronte; sister, Lori Basquez Eubanks and husband Dee of Bronte; brothers, Ricky Basquez and wife Eunice of Waskom, Matthew Paul Basquez and wife Sheila of Bronte; and one niece and four nephews. Pallbearers will be Brothers Ricky and Paul Basquez, Brother-in-law Dee Eubanks, Nephew Joshua Eubanks, and friends Joe Pounds and David Wootten. Honorary pallbearers are nephews Vincent Basquez, Jacob Eubanks, and Gabriel Basquez. The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice of Longview, Dr. Shantan Reddy at LSU Feist Weiller, and Dr. Hobley at G.I. Specialists.
