Calder, 69, of Geneva, New York, died on January 5, 2010, in Geneva. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Paint Creek Cemetery at 2 pm. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. David was born in Robert Lee, Texas, on June 1, 1940. He was the son of the late Clifton and Vernie (Key) Calder Smith. He was a graduate of Robert Lee High School, and served in the U. S. Army. David worked as an independent contractor for the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle before his retirement. He had served as a volunteer for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. He is survived by his wife, Ann (Kenny) Calder, daughter, Reta (Calder) Grabbatin; stepson, Paul Long; grand-daughter, Tricia Long; brothers, Wayne Calder, Jerry Calder, Richard Calder, James Calder, Ron Calder, Gary Calder, Dan Smith and Fred Smith; sisters Janelle Fernandez, Susan Wimberly, Katie Calder, Ruth Colvin, and Tammy Sparks; his uncle, David Key, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Neil Calder. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
