All rights reserved. ********************************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - February 5, 2010 FIELDS Mina Zera Fields, 100, passed away Monday, Feb 1, 2010, in the Robert Lee Care Center. Visitation was all day Wednesday, February 3, 2010. Funeral services were at 11 am Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Robert Lee Baptist Church. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Mother was born to Thomas and Mary Monroe Gilmore in Hill County, Texas near Lake Whitney. She was one of five children. The family moved to Robert Lee, Texas in 1929, where she met and married Buster Fields. The union was blessed with one son, Don Fields. Dad was foreman of the Harris ranch for many years and Mother cooked for the family and all the ranch hands for many years. When Dad became ill, the family moved from the big ranch house on the Colorado River into Robert Lee. Mother was a member of the Pecan Baptist Church in the Edith Community until moving to Robert Lee when she moved her membership to the Robert Lee Baptist Church, where she remained a member until her death. Mother worked for Robert Lee Hospital for 40 years until it converted into the Robert Lee Care Center. She was a Nurses Aide, however, she gave shots, assisted in surgery and performed all required nursing duties. She was extremely proud of her years of service to the Robert Lee community and its people. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster, her parents; her brother, Cecil Gilmore; her three sisters, Bernice Brown, Beth Moore and Jane King along with her nephew, Earl King and her niece, Doris Price. She is survived by her son, Don Fields and her adopted son, Troy Wimberley whom she said that God sent; sisters-in-law, Lora Fields of Coleman, Dale Fields of Robert Lee; nieces and nephews, Bobbie Box, Lynn Davidson, Jamie Jones, Freddy Jones, Albert Fields and James Fields.
