Obituary: Gladys Mae (Poehls) Hilliard Keesee, December 11, 2010 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines May 2011 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - Dec 2010 KEESEE Gladys Mae (Poehls) Hilliard Keesee, 88, of Bronte passed away early Saturday morning, December 11, 2010 at Bronte Health and Rehab Center. She was born August 9, 1922 in Runnels County to Gus William and Annie Starzy (Lucina) Poehls. She married Leland Hilliard in 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1989. She married Lloyd Keesee in 1992 and he preceded her in 1998. She was also preceded by her an infant daughter, Glenda Ann Hilliard; a sister, Anna Lee Bilbrey, and five brothers, Ed, Cecil, Ernest, Buddy and Von Lee Poehls. Gladys worked as a cafeteria cook, retiring from Ballinger ISD after 29 years and was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed life and had a great love for her family (especially her grandchildren), dominoes (especially "42"), and for music (especially) Vince Gill). She will be missed by many. She is survived by her daughter, Eyvonne Lee and husband, Turner of Bronte; her son Bill Hilliard and wife, Patsy of Ballinger; grandchildren, Jon Lee, Jeff Lee, Kyle Hilliard, Eric Hilliard and Starzy Hilliard Lee. Seven great- grandchildren and a special friend, Pat McKamey of San Angelo also survive. Visitation for family and friends was Sunday, December 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Lange Funeral Home Chapel with Max Pratt and John Driggers officiating. Burial followed in Old Runnels Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to Hospice of San Angelo or a favorite charity.
