All rights reserved *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - February 12, 2010 MARVIN LANDERS Marvin Hollis Landers, 85, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010 at Meadow Creek Nursing Home. Visitation was at the funeral home all day Thursday, February 11, 2010, with the family present from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday, February 12, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Bronte with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Gary Bivins and assisted by Cory Cornut. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Marvin was born on May 8, 1924, to Jess and Susie Landers. He married Snookye Bell on July 31, 1948. They joined the First Baptist Church of Bronte on February 16, 1947, and were baptized together by the Rev. Reuben Blake. They had many beautiful years together and were so fortunate to share that time with their daughter, Paula Jane and her family. She and her family were one of their greatest joys in life. Pallbearers will be James Tidwell, Bill Thomas, Wayne Coalson, James Lynn Vaughn, Ray Barnett and Kyle Donaldson. Honorary pallbearers are Royce Fancher and Harold Halfmann. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Edna Florence, Velma Hall, and Mildred Lee; along with one brother, Jerry Landers. Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Snookye Landers of Bronte; his daughter, Paula Jane McGinley of San Angelo; his grandson, Blake Rolls and his wife Nicole; his grandsons, Ashton and Avery all of San Angelo; his sister, Mattie McKay of Clyde, Texas; his nephews, J. O. Landers, Jody Luttrell, Max Luttrell, and Jason Donaldson; his nieces, Elaine Donaldson and her husband Kyle of Sonora, Traci Hart, Sandra, Susan and Sally. There are two very special friends that we have counted on for so long and they are Gene Allen Sherrod and Sissy Burson. They are our family. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Anderton and the special staff at Meadow Creek Nursing Home for taking such good care of Pa. We love you Pa and will all see you again one day. You will always be with us and will remain in our hearts forever.
