Evelyn Brooks

No services are scheduled for Evelyn Lorraine (King) Brooks of Artesia, 
New Mexico.

Mrs. Brooks, 89, died Sunday, January 16, 2011 in Artesia.

She was born November 25, 1921 in Floydada, Texas; the daughter of 
T.L. King and Bertha (Breedlove) King.

On December 21, 1940 she was married to "Slim" Leonard Brooks in Lubbock. 
He preceded her in death October 11, 1992. She was also preceded in death 
by her parents; brothers Woodson King, and T.L. King II; and a 
grandson Darrel Wade.

Evelyn moved to Artesia in 1993. She worked as a bookkeeper and was a 
member of Lake Arthur (NM) Methodist Church.

Survivors include her sister Annamae Hartsell of Ardmore, Okla.; a son 
Lafayette Brooks and wife Donna of Los Lunas, N.M.; granddaughters 
Yvonne Brooks and Lavette Gonzales and husband Mario of Los Lunas; 
a daughter Angel Wade and husband Mike of Artesia; grandsons 
Terrill Wade and wife Lisa, and Austin Wade and wife Tone; and 
10 great-grandchildren.
