Obituary: Frank Clawson Jr., December 14, 2011 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines March 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - Jan 6, 2012 FRANK CLAWSON JR. Frank Clawson Jr. passed from this earth to a better place in heaven on December 14, 2011. He was born on July 26, 1924, the eldest child of Frank Clawson Sr. and Odessa McCraw Clawson. He attended Robert Lee School. He farmed for awhile in Coke County and then migrated to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where his grandmother, Ell McCraw Thompson lived. He met and married the love of his life, Roberta Woodard and to this union four children were born. After trying several farm jobs, he went to work in a cast iron/aluminum foundry. He was a very talented craftsman and soon had his own foundry, JRS Ornamental Shop. He made numerous signs and garden items including fancy tables and chairs For his family in addition to other work which included making bases for signal lights for Oklahoma City. He molded and fired a design for the Patriot and Drummer Boy statue that still stands today in State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. He was well known for being able to make anything people wanted and was always in demand. He contin- ued in the shop and was forced to retire. After he recovered, he became a greeter at the new Crest Food Store in Moore, Oklahoma. Ill health forced him to retire after six years. He never met a stranger and was well liked at Crest Food Store. After he became ill, people continued to ask about his welfare at the store. He is survived by his son, Kenneth L. Clawson Sr.; his daughter, Sandra Clawson Little and her husband Gerald of Moore, Oklahoma; his daughter, Victoria A. Clawson Manly of Oklahoma; and his son Johnny D. Clawson and wife Sheryl of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by his brother, Johnny Quannah Clawson Sr. and wife Elsie of Highland, Texas; his sister, Christine Clawson Stewart of Tribbey, Oklahoma; and his baby sister, Mary Jo Clawson Storie of Midwest City, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Odessa Clawson; a sister, Virgina Alice Clawson in infancy, his brother, Wilford Roy Clawson Sr. and his beloved sister, Betty Jean Clawson. He had 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends both in Oklahoma and Texas. The funeral services were conducted at the Sunnyland Funeral Chapel at 2 pm, December 17 , 2011.
