Obituary: Kaleb Austin Crawley, October 8, 2011 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines Feb 2015 ************************************************************* The Observer/Enterprise October 14, 2011 Kaleb Austin Crawley of Robert Lee passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at home. He was five years old. He was born on September 13, 2006, in Lubbock to Austin and Elaine (Gibbs) Crawley. Kaleb loved getting hugs and kisses, listening to music, and being rocked. He had a contagious laugh, beautiful blue eyes, and a courageous, fighting spirit second to none. He had a gift for changing hearts, and showed the world that special needs children are precious and have so much love to give. Everyone who knew Kaleb loved him dearly and was deeply impacted by his short life. Kaleb lived with a number of medical conditions, including Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, chronic respiratory problems, and cerebral palsy. He suffered daily seizures, and fought every day to overcome his conditions. Survivors include his parents; his little brother, Bryson; his baby sister, Kanyon; his grandparents, Bill and Judy Gibbs of Robert Lee and Jennifer Stephenson of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Kaleb's great- grandparents are Ruth Stephenson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lee Weldon and Sandra Stephenson and Lou Ann Crawley, all of Levelland, Texas. His great-great-grandmother is Johnnie Jacobs of Archer City, Texas. Kaleb is also survived by his uncle and aunt, Brent and Amanda Gibbs of Dripping Springs, Texas, and his uncle Nash Crawley of Levelland. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, David Crawley of Levelland. Kaleb was fortunate to work with a number of loving therapists, doctors, and nurses over the years who greatly improved his quality of life and pushed Kaleb to keep working and learning. The family is grateful to all those special people who cared for Kaleb during his life. The family received visitors from 6 pm to 8 pm Monday, October 10, at Shaffer Funeral Home in Robert Lee. Services were held at 11 am Tuesday, October 11, at First United Methodist Church in Robert Lee, with burial following at the Robert Lee Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
