Obituary: Rose Marie Sawyer Davis, September 17, 2011 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines Feb 2012 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - September 23, 2011 DAVIS Rose Marie Davis Rose Marie Sawyer Davis passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2011. at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 73. Her death was due to complications from pneumonia. Rosie was born to R.C. "Buzz" and Floy Sawyer on January 28, 1938, in Ranger, Texas. She attended school in Ranger before moving to Robert Lee, Texas, where she graduated from high school in 1956. While in Robert Lee, she met and married Garland Davis. They were married on December 26, 1956, in Robert Lee. Rosie and Garland raised three boys and lived in Robert Lee, Medina, Austin, Ozona, Dripping Springs, Lovington, New Mexico, and New Braunfels. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents, sister Kenney Sims and an infant granddaughter, Heather Michelle Davis. She is survived by her husband, Garland of New Braunfels; son Glenn and Colleen Davis of Lake McQueeney; son Gary and Carmela Davis of Denver City; son Copie and Alicia Davis of Round Rock; seven grandchildren: Courtney Davis of Lubbock, Curtis and Cami Davis of Lake McQueeney, Marlow, Sawyer and Emery Davis of Denver City, Olivia Davis of Round Rock; brother Tom and Gay Sawyer of Robert Lee; brother-in-law Butch and Carolyn Davis of San Angelo; brother-in-law Waymond and Jean Davis of Dime Box; and sister-in-law Peggy Davis of Robert Lee as well as a number of niece and nephews. Funeral services were held at 10 am Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Robert Lee, Texas, with Gary Davis officiating. Burial followed in Robert Lee Cemetery. Pallbearers were her three sons, her two grandsons and long-time family friend, Eddie Pratt of Waco. Honorary Pallbearers were her nephews: Tom and Jamie Sawyer of Robert Lee; Wes Sawyer of Hutto; Barry Davis of Southlake and Waid Davis of Coppell. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
