James Vernon Glenn, age 88 of Amarillo died December 30, 2011, in Amarillo, 
Texas. Memorial Services were held Thursday, January 5, 2012, at 10 am 
at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel. Greg Corona, Pastor at Hillside 
Christian Church officiated. Arrangements were by Schooler Funeral Home, 
4100 South Georgia.

James passed from this world to meet with his parents, relatives and loving 
friends in Beulah Land, just as he promised his mother he would.

James was born May 10, 1923, in Tennyson, Texas to John and Mattie Glenn, 
the sixth of seven children. He was an aviation cadet at Texas A&M and 
entered into the Army Air Force in 1943 to proudly serve his country.
 
He married Bobbie Forman and together they had two children, Elaine Alford
and Mason Glenn.
 
James was the owner of the Gibson Stores and the Jack N Box convenience 
stores in Amarillo. On December 30, 1972, in San Angelo, he married 
Bessie Pauline McCoy. James died on their 39th wedding anniversary.

James truly enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with family and friends. 
Yellowstone, Monument Lake and Eagles Nest were some of his favorite places 
to visit. Until his health prevented it each year he would get up from the 
Thanksgiving table and head to Ft. Davis to hunt with his brother.

The family would like to extend a personal thank you to the wonderful 
doctors, nurses and staff, the VA Hospital and Odyssey Hospice.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Pauline Glenn Sims; 
three brothers, D.K., J. B. and Clark Glenn; his daughter Elaine Alford 
and his son Mason Glenn.

James is lovingly survived by his wife Bessie; a step daughter, 
Betty Melinda Leake and her husband Tommy of Amarillo; two step sons, 
Lester Terry McEntyre and his wife Janet of San Angelo and Michael E. 
McEntyre and his wife Lisa of Amarillo; two brothers, Tuny Glenn of Bronte 
and Dale Glenn of San Angelo; a special niece Janeen Williams; thirteen 
grandchildren, Amy Clawson and her husband Dan, Allison Alford, Colt Glenn, 
Pam Saunders, Mollie Lee and her husband Steven, Dr. Abby Leake, Ryan Leake, 
Travis Leake, Carrie Searcy and her husband Jerry, Lisa Hall and 
her husband Dusty, David McEntyre and his wife Heather, Emily Riley and 
her husband Michael and Hanna McEntyre; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

The family suggests that memorials be made to The Thomas E Creek Veterans
