Obituary: Bob Miears, January 9, 2011 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines May 2011 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - January 14, 2011 MIEARS Bob Miears Bob Miears, 67, of Big Spring, died on Sunday, January 9, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Chaplain Dean Thomas, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at the funeral home. He was born on December 11, 1943, in Big Spring, Texas. Bob was a 1963 graduate of Big Spring High School. He was a sergeant in the United States Army, serving with the 1st Infantry division. While serving in Vietnam, he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the Air Medal. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at the Big Spring State Hospital for 20 years, retiring 2006. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Cori Miears of San Angelo; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Doug Tounget of Bronte and Terri and Michael Yanez of Big Spring; one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Bonnie Miears of Big Spring; his special friend, Marion Slavens of Big Spring; and eight grandchildren, Madison Miears, Logan Miears, Payton Miears, Chelsea Cook, Cambri Kelso, Carson Kelso, Brandon Ferguson and Christopher Ferguson; and one great-grand-daughter, Isabella Ferguson. He was preceded in death by his parents, D. J. and Effie Miears. The family suggests memorials be made to American Cancer Society, c/o Carolyn Brooks, P. O.
