Obituary: Elton F. Millican, February 9, 2011 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines May 2011 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - Feb 2011 MILLICAN Elton F. Millican, 79, went to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. Visitation was from 9 am to 12 noon Friday, February 11, 2011, at the funeral home. Graveside service was held at 2 pm on Friday in Paint Creek Cemetery with Don Davis officiating. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Elton was born on March 7, 1931, to Christopher and Gladys Millican in Robert Lee, Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. During his life he worked in construction for several years. His true calling, however, was that of a top hand with spoiled horses and breaking young horses. He was talented from a young age with training horses. He broke his first horse at the age of eight and continued training until he was no longer physically able up into sometime in his 70s. He loved the ranch life along with his dog, Cutter. He had a great love for his family. He was particularly fond of his grandchildren and they always brought a smile to his face. He is preceded in death by his wife, Pat Millican; his parents; one brother, Nathaniel "Buddy" Millican. Elton is survived by his sons, Marshall Millican and wife Sheri of Robert Lee, Troy Millican and wife Susan of Sterling City; his stepson, Tanner Cates of Midland; his sisters, Lillian Posey and Olean Strickland both of Robert Lee; his grandchildren, Kannan Moore and husband Aaron of Aledo, Texas, Stewart Millican and wife Crystal of Fort Worth, Cayla Millican of San Angelo and fiancé Jerrod Holt of Big Lake; his great-granddaughter, Bailyn Moore of Aledo, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. *************************** Permission granted by The Observer/Enterprise for publication in the Coke County TXGenWeb and/or the Coke County Archives of the USGenWeb.
