Obituary: Ida Lou Oliphant, Jan. 14, 2011 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines June 2015 *********************************************************************** San Angelo Standard Times, January 16, 2011 Ida Lou Oliphant was born on July 13, 1930, to Mabel and Floyd Modgling in Bronte, Texas. She went to be with her Lord on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011. Visitation will be all day Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at the funeral home with the family present from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo with Corey Cornutt officiating. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Bronte. Ida was raised in Bronte and graduated from Bronte High School in 1948. In 1976 she received her B.S. degree in elementary education from the University of Houston. She taught 1st grade for 22 years at Jane Long Elementary in Richmond, Texas. She moved back to Bronte in 1994, and made her home in Bronte. In 2002, she moved into Baptist Memorials in San Angelo. She was preceded in death by her parents Mabel (1985) and Floyd (1987) Modgling; husband Charles Oliphant (1992); and son Charles Robert Oliphant (2002). Ida is survived by one son, Michael Neal Oliphant and wife Christine; and one granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Oliphant of Houston.
