SONNENBERG

Marguerite "Granny" Sonnenberg, 92, went to be with her Lord in Heaven 
on Wednesday, February 23, 2011.  Visitation will be held all day Friday, 
February 25, 2011 with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  
Funeral services to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2011 
at Shaffer Funeral Home's Chapel at 1939 Sherwood Way, officiated by 
John Pennington. Interment will follow in the Mereta Cemetery.  Services 
are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.

Marguerite was born on January 24, 1919 in Mereta, Texas to Harry S. Tinkler 
and Mattie Eckert Tinkler.  She met and married the love of her life, 
L. J. Sonnenberg and lived her entire life in the San Angelo area where 
she raised her family.

She supported her husband and worked side by side with him in the agriculture 
business for many years as well as numerous other endeavors to support their 
family until his death. In her younger days she was the backbone of the 
Mereta and Norton gins. After the passing of her husband she sold the family 
farm and moved to San Angelo.

Marguerite was very talented and loved working with her hands.  Some of the 
things she enjoyed most were quilting and crocheting. She lavished those 
she loved with these special gifts as she had a great desire to do for others.  
She not only did for her family and friends but for others as well, she 
once crotcheted over two thousand toboggans to be sent to the troops in 
Afghanistan. These same hands were used as well to prepare wonderful meals 
for her family.  She loved everyone she met and especially had a great love 
for children.  She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she has 
touched over the years.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, 
L. J. Sonnenberg, two sons, Arthur Lewis Sonnenberg and Bruce Lionel 
Sonnenberg, one son-in-law Lee Haynie,  grandson Stephen Sonnenberg, 
great grandson, Gideon Morris, one sister, and four brothers.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Sonnenberg and wife Dorris of Bronte, 
Otto Sonnenberg and wife Georganna of Early; daughter, Wilma Haynie of 
San Angelo; daughters-in-law, Fran Sonnenberg of Bronte and Donna Rains 
of Colorado; brother, Roy E. Tinkler and wife Jenny of Robert Lee; 
sisters, Ella Mae Dumas of Brady, Polly Large and husband Bob of Robert Lee; 
sisters-in-law, Stella Tinkler of Brownwood and Sylvia Tinkler of Robert Lee; 
brother-in-law, J.C. Sonnenberg and wife Olga of Mereta; twelve 
grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, 
cousins, and friends.

In Lieu of Flowers the family request in memory of Granny's love for children 
that memorials be made to a children's charity of your choice.
