Obituary: Geraldine "Jerry" Mitchell Thomason, January 5, 2011 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines May 2011 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - January 14, 2011 THOMASON Jerry Thomason Geraldine "Jerry" Mitchell Thomason of Lufkin, was born on September 27, 1922, in Collin County, Texas to the late James Elijah and Elizabeth Box Mitchell. She passed from this life on January 5, 2011 at the age of 88. Jerry spent most of her life in Coke County, Texas, and always considered herself a "Rabbit Twister." She married James Austin "Whistle" Thomason in March of 1946 in Robert Lee, Texas. He preceded her in death in March of 1955. Jerry resided in Robert Lee, Texas, raising two sons, and serving as County Treasurer for twenty years until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the Robert Lee Chapter 187 Order of the Eastern Star for many years. Mom will always be lovingly remembered for her devotion to family, unfailing good spirits, and resilience in the face of adversity. She was indeed a charter member of the Greatest Generation, selflessly doing that which had to be done without complaint or reservation. Godspeed and farewell, Mom, your love and sacrifice are your enduring legacy. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, and eight siblings, Jerry is survived by two sons, Craig Thomason and wife April of San Antonio; Jack Thomason and wife Darla of Lufkin; Grandchildren Stacy Thomason of Denver, CO; Jill Weisner and husband John of Lufkin, Zachary Thomason and Benjamin Thomason of Lufkin; Great Grandchildren Kathryn and Luke Weisner of Lufkin; and many special Nieces and Nephews who were a blessing and comfort to her. Visitation will be held Friday, January 7, 2011 at the funeral home with the family present from 6:00p.m to 8:00p.m. Graveside services will be held at 10:00a.m., Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Robert Lee Cemetery with Steve Peyton officiating.
