Obituary: Loudell Gentry, December 24, 2012 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines Feb 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - January 4, 2013 GENTRY Loudell Gentry, our loving mother and grandmother passed away to be with our Lord on Monday, December 24, 2012. Visitation was Friday, December 28, 2012, with the family present from 6 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home. Graveside services were held at 10 am Saturday, December 29, 2012, in Fairview Cemetery in Bronte. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Loudell Gentry was born on October 23, 1923, on a cotton farm in Norton, Texas, to Fred and Beth Williams where she learned how to chop cotton and work hard. She married C.R. "Sonny" Gentry on February 7, 1942.She continued her hard work, chopping and picking cotton, but also learned to ride, work stock and build fence, while being a full-time homemaker. Loudell was an avid sports fan, mainly football and baseball, more specifically the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Houston Astros. She was an outstanding cook and still made homemade rolls for every family gathering. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and in her younger years, she was a very good tennis player and loved to sing, performing at weddings, county fairs and church on a regular basis. She was known as Grammer by family and friends and will be missed by all. Loudell was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Beth Williams and step-mother, Vickie Williams, her siblings, D. W. Williams, Modena Smallwood, Hilda Powers, Marzee Powers, and Leta Sudberry, her husband of 67 years, Sonny Gentry and her daughter, Debbie Gentry Harcourt. She is survived by her son, David Gentry and wife, Brendi of Norton, and Jim Harcourt and wife Cindy of Abilene, grandchildren; Melinda Gentry, Julia Gentry and husband, Michael Manley of San Angelo, Shealon Harcourt Tulley and husband Mark of Clyde, and Heath Harcourt and wife Landa of Stephenville; great grand-children, Hunter, McKenna, Kinlee, Davashtian, Kylar, and Kash, two step great-grandchildren, Michael and Dedrick, brother and sister-in-law Bill and Ginger Gentry; and many nieces and nephews.
