Obituary: Basil "Francis" Jeffries, March 14, 2012 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines Mar 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - March 23, 2012 Basil "Francis" Jeffries went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, in the Robert Lee Care Center. Francis was born on May 6, 1920, to Cordell and Willie Jane Dodson Jeffries in Stone County, Arkansas. As a teenager during the depression, Francis worked with the CCC building the state park in Blanchard Springs, Arkansas. In 1941, Francis joined the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He was stationed in England, France, and Germany with the 2nd Infantry Division Medical Battalion. Francis received the Good Conduct Medal and Bronze Star. In 1946, Francis married Addie Taylor in Batesville, Arkansas. They celebrated 65 years of marriage. In 1949, Francis and Addie made their home in Robert Lee, Texas, where Francis worked various vocations. He was a long standing member of the Northside Church of Christ. Francis was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; two sisters; and special friends, J. C. Wallace, Javan and Maurine Vosburg. Francis is survived by his wife, Addie Jeffries of Robert Lee; daughter, Jana Carol Jeffries of San Angelo; one sister, Noleka Hopper of Batesville, Arkansas; four nephews; and one niece. He is also survived by an extended family, Jewell Wallace; Royce and Alice Wallace of Robert Lee; Jacky, Pam and Lindsay Wallace; Troy and Susan Millican; Jarrod and Cayla Holt; Buddy, Kip, Tyler, and Kate Wallace; Jackie, Jessica, and Joel Smith; Javan "Buddy", Marsha, Caleb, Jill, Luke, and Merritt Vosburg; Jade and Lizbeth Hughes; Steve and Debra Rives; Chris and Javanna Sedeno; Kelly and Stephanie Koenig. Visitation with family was held Friday, March16, 2012, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Shaffer Funeral Home in Robert Lee. Funeral service was held at 10 am Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Northside Church of Christ in Robert Lee with Portis Ribble and Clyde Dukes officiating. Burial followed in Robert Lee Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jacky Wallace, Troy Millican, Jackie Smith, Javan "Buddy" Vosburg, Steve Rives, and Doug Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be Royce Wallace, Joel Smith, Tyler Wallace, Caleb Vosburg, Luke Vosburg, Jarrod Holt, and Garret Blair. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff of Interim Homehealth and Hospice; Christina, Cindy, Jennifer, Marci, Grady; and the staff of the Robert Lee Care Center.
