The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - April 13, 2012

Barbara Sue Brewer Kelly of Blackwell, Texas, went to be with her Lord and 
Saviour on April 9, 2012, after a long and hard fought battle with illness. 
She was surrounded by her family and many friends.

Barbara was born July 24, 1941, in Marmaduke, Arkansas. In later years her 
family moved to Wilson, Texas. She met the love of her life, Buddy Kelly, 
and joined him in marriage on February 4, 1962. They just shared their 50th 
anniversary.

She retired from the Lubbock Independent School District after 22 years, 
mostly at Coronado High School.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Marie Brewer; sister, 
Omalee Bullock; and brother, Lester Brewer. Barbara is survived by her husband, 
Buddy Kelly of Blackwell; son, Greg Kelly and wife Diane; grandson, Benjamin 
Kelly all of Edgewood, New Mexico; sisters-in-law, Melba Brewer, Noma Watson, 
Beverly Glover; a niece and several nephews. 

Visitation was all day Wednesday and Thursday, April 11 and 12, 2012, at the 
funeral home with the family present on Thursday from 6 pm until 7 pm. The 
funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Bronte 
Church of Christ. Graveside service will be held at 4 pm on Friday at 
Englewood Cemetery in Slaton, Texas. Services are under the direction of 
Shaffer Funeral Home.
