Obituary: Josue Galindo Longoria, October 19, 2012 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines Feb 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - October 26, 2012 Josue Galindo Longoria was born March 5, 1921, in Christoval, Texas. He passed away on October 19, 2012. Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Robert Lee at 2 pm Monday, October 22, 2012, with burial following at the Hispanic Cemetery in Robert Lee, Texas. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Josue was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Nestora Longoria. He had two brothers Arnulfo and Blas Longoria, three sisters; Theodastia Sanchez, Chavela Ortega, and Siraca Rodriguez. Josue is survived by his his wife Julia Longoria; three sons; Ernest Longoria and wife Linda of Dallas, Texas, Salvador Longoria of Odessa, Texas, and Joe Longoria and wife Rosa of Robert Lee, Texas; three daughters; Amelia Rodriguez and husband Chabel from Sterling City, Texas, Linda Wojtek of Bronte, Texas, and Carol Gardner of Midland, Texas. Papa Joe, as he was also called, had 12 grand children and 12 great-grand children and several nephews and nieces and many close friends and family. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on July 21, 1942, and served until January 20, 1946, when he was honorably discharged. During that time, he received the American Theater Campaign of good conduct medal. He also received the E A M E campaign of WW II Victory Medal. His war time stories to his children consisted of his travels to England, Germany and France where he met General Patton and fought alongside him. He worked for the Ford Motor Company in Sterling City under Martin Reed for 15 years. Later, he moved to Robert Lee and worked for Ivey Motor Company, as Head Mechanic for 25 years. He also was a retired Fireman for the Robert Lee Volunteer Fire Department, where he served 25 years. Josue was an active member of the Robert Lee Hispanic Baptist Church. He carried the role of singing hymns and Bible study. Pallbearers were his grandsons; Ricky, Charlie, Jeremy, and Bobby Longoria, Freddy Wojtek, Eddie May, Zachary Gardner and Adam Rodriguez. He will be greatly missed and will be remembered for all the precious moments and the joyful times we all had together. WE ALL LOVE YOU DADDY!
