Obituary: Floyd H. Petitt, Jr., October 19, 2012 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines Feb 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - October 26, 2012 Floyd H. Petitt, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend of many was granted his angel wings on Saturday, October 19, 2012, in his home at Baptist Memorials. Service were at 2 pm Wednesday, October 24, 2012, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend James Mitchell officiating. Burial followed in Lawnhaven Memorials Gardens. Floyd was born December 13, 1929, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Floyd H. and Clara May Petitt. He grew up in Satanta, Kansas, and graduated in 1946 from Satanta High School. Following graduation from college, he met the love of his life, Margaret Stansberry and they were married May 10, 1958, in La Feria and had 50 wonderful years before she passed away in 2009. He worked in the oilfields for Exxon and Texas Eastern for 34 years before retiring. He was always an active member of his church, helping with young children and serving as a deacon at Northside Baptist Church in Fort Stockton, Texas, and First Baptist Church of La Feria, Texas. Floyd and Margaret moved to San Angelo in 1999 and became active members of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and then deacon emeritus. Floyd was a people person. He never met a stranger. He loved to visit with people and always helped anybody when he could. He was a volunteer at Baptist Memorial until his health no longer permitted him. While health permitted, he loved woodworking. He is survived by a son Floyd Conley and daughter-in-law Jan; grandchildren Melissa Hogg and husband Cooper, Bryan Petitt, Cody Rodriguez, and Becca Gilbert and husband Braxton; and one very special great-granddaughter Micaiah Isabelle Gilbert. Floyd's loving, caring, gentle spirit for all his family and friends will be missed very much.
