Obituary: Bonnie Beatrice Johnson Taylor, November 21, 2012 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines Feb 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - November 30, 2012 Death is the golden key that opens the palace of eternity and allows us to go home. On November 21, 2012, that door was opened for Bonnie Beatrice Johnson Taylor of Bronte. After 95 joyful years, she has gone to be with her Lord and Savior. Services were held at 2 pm Saturday, November 24, at the Bronte Church of Christ. Visitation was held from 6 pm to 8 pm Friday, November 23,at Shaffer Funeral Home in Bronte. Bonnie was born to Lucian and Beulah Johnson on November 5, 1917, in Windom, Texas. The family moved to Roscoe where she attended school and met Horace Taylor. Bonnie and Horace were married on May 1, 1935, in Roscoe. The couple was blessed with four children and settled in the Humble Oil camp in Pickton, Texas, where they stayed for eleven years before making Bronte their home in 1955. Over the years, Bonnie worked as an Avon consultant, a seamstress at Smith Mercantile, Joni-Lyn Blouse Factory, and for the Abilene Christian University food service. Bonnie will be remembered for her generosity, hospitality and love for her family and friends. Always with a twinkle in her eye, a song in her heart or a quoting a poem, she brought joy and sunshine to everyone she encountered. Bonnie was a lifelong Christian and was a member of the Bronte Church of Christ for 57 years. She had the heart of a servant, visiting the sick and helping those in need. Bonnie walked with God daily and passed her love for the Lord on to her children and grandchildren. She leaves a long Christian legacy of faith and love that she always hoped would live on in her children and her children's children, for generations to come. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Taylor; brothers Frances Johnson, Herman Johnson and Jake "J.T." Johnson and daughter, Betty Stancill. Survivors include her brother Lucian Mac Johnson and wife Gladys of Odessa; sons, Bob Taylor and wife, Betty of Commerce, and Stover Taylor and wife, Jerita of Bronte; daughter Lynda Thornton of Abilene; grand-children Randy Stancill and wife Trish of Tyler, Cathy Holton and husband, Randy of Midlothian, Rick Stancill and wife Shelly of McKinney, Bob Taylor and wife Tonya of Celina, Robert Taylor of Commerce, Carolin Taylor of Sinton, Misti Bedford and husband, David of Bronte; Eboni Johnson and husband Rick of Marion, South Carolina; Brent Taylor and wife Jamie of Carrollton, Melody Zufelt and husband Thomas of Houston and Michael Thornton and wife, Lori of Abilene; twenty great-grand-children and five great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were her grand-sons, Randy Stancill, RickStancill, Bob Taylor, RobertTaylor, Michael Thornton and Brent Taylor. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the Bronte Health and Rehab Center for the care and attention they gave to our loved one for the past ten years. We sincerely appeciate the doctors and nurses who gave her outstanding care at Shannon Hospital.
