Obituary: Ruth Beal, August 29, 2013 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines May 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - Friday September 6, 2013 Ruth Beal of Robert Lee, Texas, passed away on August 29, 2013, in Abilene after a brave battle with cancer. Visitation was held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday, August 30, 2013, at the funeral home. Funeral services were held at 10 am on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Robert Lee Baptist Church. Graveside services were at 2 pm at the Coleman City Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Ruth was born in Coleman County, Texas, on July, 20, 1926. She married Zeddie D. Beal on May 4, 1947, in Brownwood, Texas. They lived in the Abilene area until 1954 when they moved to Silver, Texas, where she raised her family in the Perkins-Prothro oil camp for 15 years and continued at Robert Lee which became home for the next 45 years, until moving to Abilene in March of this year. In addition to being a devoted wife and wonderful mother, Ruth worked as a nurse's aide at the Coke County Hospital and Nursing Home and then continued to work as a home caregiver for individuals in need of her special love and attention until she was 85 years of age. She was a faithful member of Robert Lee Baptist Church, devoted to her Sunday School family, and was a friend to many in the community who treasured her humor and compassion, especially her special domino friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Zeddie D. Beal, mother Era Preas Epperson, father Rom Epperson, sisters May Johnson and Faye Kostka, and brother Ray Epperson. Survivors include a daughter Debra Hanna of Tuscola, Texas, and a son, Lynn Beal and his wife Robbie of Tuscola. Grand children include Brandi White and husband Cody of Tuscola, Bethany Miller and her husband Brian of Austin, Ashley Beal of San Marcos, Texas, Amanda Beal of Austin, and Colin Beal and his wife Julie of Grapevine, Texas. Great-grandchildren are Lynlee Piper White of Tuscola, and Charles Marvin Miller of Austin. Survivors also include her sisters Evelyn Wilkinson of San Antonio and Jean Bruce and husband Raymond of Coleman, her brother Bob Epperson of Baytown, Texas. She is also survived by numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Ruth lived her faith in her treatment of others and the unwavering love for her family. She was proud to be called "Nannie" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Her greatest legacy may be how they learned from her to share that care, love, and acceptance with others. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Hospice of the Big Country in Abilene for their loving care.
