Obituary: Curtis Blair, January 27, 2013 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines March 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - February 1, 2013 CURTIS BLAIR Curtis Blair passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the age of 86. He was born to W. F. and Samantha Blair on July 28, 1926, near Blackwell, Texas. Curtis served in the army during WWII in the Pacific Theater and in Japan during the occupation after the War ended. He married Charlene McCutchen of Robert Lee on February 1, 1947. They had two surviving sons and a daughter, Charla Ann, that passed away at birth. Charlene passed away in 1996. Curtis married Faye Layne of Snyder on June 1, 2001. Curtis retired from Patterson Drilling in 2007 after working 60 years in the oilfield. He also ranched in Coke and Nolan counties. In retirement, Curtis and Faye loved to travel, play bridge and attend Senior Citizen Dances. In addition to his parents, first wife and daughter, Curtis was preceded in death by six brothers: Jim, Jeff, Raymond, John, Bill, and Ralph and six sisters: Lidy, Frances, Bessie, Samantha, Verna Belle and Eudell. He is survived by his wife Faye and two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Cheryl of Abilene and Joe Dee and Terri of Robert Lee. He is also survived by six grandchildren: D'Linn Nichols (Rob) of Abilene, Amy Blair of Abilene, Jacob Blair (Allison) of Midland, Mandy Blair of San Angelo, Cody Blair (Valeria) of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Garrett Blair of Andrews. He is survived by four great-grandchildren: Isabella and Rebecca Blair of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Jace and Amy Kay Blair of Midland; three step-children: Kip Layne of Jayton, Judy Stokum of Carlsbad, New Mexico, and Kyle Layne of Snyder; five step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
