Obituary: Dora P. Spieker Gallaway, June 1, 2013 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines April 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - June 7, 2013 Dora P. Spieker Gallaway, 94, of Bronte, Texas, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 1, 2013. Visitation was all day,Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Shaffer Funeral Home in San Angelo, located at 1939 Sherwood Way. The family was present to receive visitors from 5 pm to 7 pm. Funeral services were held at 10 am, Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at The First United Methodist Church in Bronte, located at 324 South Washington St. with David Bailey officiating. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Bronte. Pallbearers were Mark Duncan, John Page Hruska, Jaylon Seales, John Seales, Clarence Spieker, Eugene Spieker, and Calvin Wanoreck. Alternates were David Hale and Daniel Steele. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way. Dora was born August 1, 1918, in Mills County, Texas, to Fred C. Spieker and Alma Marie Marwitz Spieker. In 1940, she married Robert Louis Gallaway and spent most of their lives working farmland and stock farming in Hymen and Wall, Texas. In 1959, they moved to Coke County on"the farm" in Bronte. After the passing of her husband in 1982, Dora left the farm and moved into town where she was very active in the Bronte community and The First United Methodist Church of Bronte. She was a member of the Quilters Club, RSVP and the Thursday afternoon Sr. Citizens Dominoes Club. Her interests also included a love for music that came through at her "jam sessions" as she played along on the piano, accordion and occasionally the harmonica, baking her pecan pies and cinnamon rolls, and saving all her birthday and Christmas cards because a brief noteand a card meant the world to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six siblings, grand-daughter Cheri Kahlig, and great-granddaughter Amy Delamater. Dora is survived by her daughter, Norma Kahligand and husband James of San Angelo; son, Robert Gallaway and wife Denise of Bronte; grandchildren, Carol Ann Hale and husband David of San Angelo and Kelly Seales and husband John of Bronte; great-grandchildren, James Lee Delamater, Stephen Kyle Delamater, Jaylon Seales, Kyalyn Seales, and Jamison Seales; numerous nieces and nephews.
