Born July 1, 1937, to Sam and Helen Fowler of Sanco, Texas, Sammie Jo 
Baker went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2014, at the age of 77.

Sammie Jo attended elementary school in Sanco and graduated from Robert Lee
High School.

She was employed by the Coke County Sheriff's Department and was the first
female deputy. She spent most of her career as a secretary to the Robert Lee 
School District for over thirty years, retiring from there in 1998. She was
also a long time member of the Robert Lee Baptist Church.

Her favorite pastimes include supporting the Dallas Cowboys, watching college 
basketball, shopping, yard work, and reading.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Helen Fowler, and her brother 
Charles Fowler.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Ronnie Max Baker, daughter, 
Valerie Howard, son, Micky Kent Baker and wife Kelly, all of Robert
Lee; granddaughters, Kayli Dicky Rose and her husband Travis and 
Jordan Baker Alexander and her husband Jared; grandsons, Jacob Baker and 
Will Howard; three great grandsons, Taylor and Tucker Rose, and 
Sagan Alexander. She is also survived by her brother Waddy Fowler and his 
wife Mary Ann; sister, Patricia Clement and husband Jack and sister, 
Janice Fowler.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jacob Baker, Will Howard, Jared Alexander, Mark Fowler, 
Larry Fowler and Sam Taft.

The family would like to thank the Robert Lee Care Center for their dedicated 
service to all the residents of Robert Lee and especially for all the wonderful
care of our dear mother.
