Obituary: Johnny Quanner Clawson Sr., April 3, 2014 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines May 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - May 2, 2014 Johnny Quanner Clawson Sr. passed away April 3, 2014. He was born July 5, 1927, at Robert Lee, Texas, to Wilson Frank Clawson Sr. and Odessa (McCraw) Clawson. Johnny graduated from Robert Lee High School and was immediately drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in mop-up operations on the island of Okinawa after which he was honorably discharged. He went to work for Casey's Garage in Robert Lee and later went to Baytown, Texas, where he worked for Bayshore Motors for 32 years. He worked for Amoco Oil as an operator in their refinery until his second retirement. In his free time, Johnny enjoyed square dancing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He always had a great sense of humor and was willing to help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Odessa; two brothers, Frank Jr. and Roy; one sister, Betty Clawson and one grandson. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Clawson; daughter, Billie Rae Freeman; daughter Jo Ann Barrett; son, J.Q, Sr.; stepson, Jim Holden; step-daughter, Kim Rollings; two sisters, Christine Stewart and Mary Jo Storie; 10 grandchildren, 4 great -grand children and one great great grandchild, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
