Obituary: Nina Effie (Murphy) Corley, September 21, 2015 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines Oct 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX, Friday, September 25, 2015 Nina Effie (Murphy) Corley Nina Effie (Murphy) Corley passed away on September 21, 2015. Visitation was held all day Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at the funeral home with family present from 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services were held at 10 am, Thursday, September 24, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Bronte with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. Services were under Shaffer Funeral Home. Effie was born August 17, 1919, to Ben and Debbie Murphy in Sanco, Texas. Shemarried Marvin Corley January 11, 1941, in Tennyson, Texas, where they lived until 1957 when they moved to Bronte. They were members of First Baptist Church. Marvin preceded her in death in 1975. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Eula Kinney, Geneva Clark and Francis Johnson. Effie, or Grandma as she was known to her family, was known for her beautiful smile and her vibrant personality. She never met a stranger and had a way about her that made everyone feel special. She loved to play games, especially dominos and taught all the grandkids how to play any number of games, usually letting the grandkids win! They all loved to spend time with her. After age ninety-five, she was still living alone and driving herself to the Senior Center to play dominos with her special friends. She retired from the Bronte Post Office in 1985. She is survived by one son, Benny Corley and his wife Jackie of Bronte; one daughter, Peggy Belew and her husband Scotty of Wingate; she is also survived by grandchildren, Barry Corley and wife Tracie of Robert Lee, Rusty Corley and wife Missy of Bronte, Tami Richards and husband Conda of Wingate, Bill Belew and wife Megan of Wingate, John Paul Belew and wife Paige of Lubbock. She is also survived by great- grandchildren, Keith Corley and wife Sissy, Tyler and wife Mandy, Caylor and wife Megan, Coby Corley and fiancé April Harkin, Dusty and wife Cassie, Jaci Corley and fiancé Layton Schniers, Kyler Richards, Ashlyn Richards, Charles Childress, Corley Belew, Minnie Belew, Blair Belew, Walker Belew, Wilson Belew, Josh Tennyson and Ashlie Tennyson and eight great-greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Muriel Smily of McKinney and Dorothy Turner of Big Spring, a number of special nieces and nephews and Felma Evans who she claimed as her adopted daughter, and many friends.
