Obituary: Diane Luckett, October 21, 2015 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines Oct 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - Friday, October 30, 2015 Diane Luckett, 78, of Bronte passed from this life into her eternal life on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. Visitation was held all day Friday, October 23, 2015, at the funeral home with family present from 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services were at 10 am, Saturday, October 24, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Bronte with Reverend Everette Boyce, officiating. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Diane was born on July 16, 1937, to Jim and Lois Dunklin in Henderson County, Texas. She graduated from Phillips High School in 1955 and from McMurry University in 1959. She started teaching school in Bronte, and married Billy Joe Luckett on August 5, 1961. She taught school in Bronte and Blackwell for a number of years, retiring from GTE of the Southwest (Verizon) in 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Luckett, and her parents, Jim and Lois Dunklin. Diane is survived by her daughter, Debbie Bayer and husband Scott of San Angelo; son, Joe Luckett of Bronte; three grandchildren, Aaron Bayer and wife Candace, Amanda Bayer and Corey Bayer and wife Marilyn, all of San Angelo. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Oliver Bayer, Caden, Austin, and Gavin Johnson. Diane was very active with the Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women's organizations. She held Offices with both the Church and UMW on the local and district levels. Frequent trips to Mt. Wesley at Kerrville for Church and UMW meetings were often highlighted by shopping at James Avery. She also was a Brownie and Cub Scout leader. She was a member of the Sorosis club in Bronte, and liked the activities and parties that went along with being a member. Another interest she had was learning to play Bridge. She enjoyed playing at the San Angelo Bridge Club, and Royal Estates. She also enjoyed reading, and playing her saxophone. She enjoyed traveling with Bilbrey Tours, taking day trips and extended tours. Diane enjoyed family gatherings out at the Place for catfish and hamburger dinners, and watching fireworks on the fourth of July provided by her grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Bronte Health & Rehab Center and Interim Hospice. Pallbearers were Alonzo Robbins, Ronnie Robbins, Pete Percifull, Ed Martindale, Mark Duncan, and Keith Fletcher.
