Obituary: John Payne "J.P." (Jake) McClure, Jr., Sept. 29, 2015 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines Oct 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - Friday, October 9, 2015 John Payne "J.P." (Jake) McClure, Jr. left his residence in Bronte, Texas, to join his loved ones and the Lord in Heaven on September 29, 2015. Visitation was held from 9 am to 8 pm Friday, October 2, 2015, at the funeral home with family present from 6 pm to 8 pm. Graveside services were held at 10 am Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Mule Creek Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. He was one of four boys born in Paint Rock, Texas, to the late J.P. and Esse McClure on January 14, 1930. As an Air Force Medic Veteran, he married his soul mate Dorthe James on November 19, 1953, and had almost fifty years of a special marriage. His belief in hard work ran a close second to his quick sense of humor and talent for trapping bobcats. He retired from the State Highway Department after twenty-seven years. After retirement; if he wasn't building miles of fence line; taking care of cattle; you could find him fishing or in his "favorite recliner" watching football. J.P. was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, J.P. was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Marlin and Billy Carl McClure; and grandson, Joe Dan. He is survived by his brother, Bob McClure; children, Danny Parker, Paula Schmidt and her spouse Mike Schmidt, Denise Porter and her spouse Clint Porter, Cody McClure and MariFran; grandchildren are Kathy Gibler and her spouse Matt Gibler, Kristy Zadra, Gale Jackson, Jerrod McClure and his spouse Stephanie McClure, Jesse McClure and his spouse Lisa McClure, Daisy Hopkins and her spouse Alex Hopkins, C.J. McClure and his spouse Ashton McClure, Stormy McClure and Jasmyne Carpenter and Joey Goddard; great-grandchildren are Skylar Gibler, Bryar Gibler, Nick Casarez, Josalyn Casarez, Nikki Casarez, Ashlynn McClure, Kayden McClure, Kaitlyn Zadra, MaKayla McClure, Corbin Jackson, Arabella McClure and Gideon McClure.
