Obituary: Charles Sonnenberg, January 31, 2015 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines July 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, February 6, 2015 Sonnenberg Charles Sonnenberg went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at his home in Bronte, Texas. Charles was born February 14, 1941, to L. J. Sonnenberg and Marguerite Tinkler Sonnenberg in Mereta, Texas, and received his diploma from Mereta School District. Charles moved to Midland in 1969 to start his career as a computer programmer for First National Bank of Midland and also worked for Eagle Computing and Parker and Parsley Petroleum until 1994. Charles met his loving wife, Dorris Saunders of Bronte, and they married November 22, 1987. Charles and Dorris moved to Bronte in the spring of 1994 where Charles joined Concho Business Solutions, a family owned business located in San Angelo and retired from there in January 2001. Charles served the communities he lived in as a member of the Kiwanis and Optimist Clubs of Midland, Lions Club of Bronte, Bronte City Council and the Bronte Nursing Home Board, He also volunteered as a "driver"for the East Coke County Ambulance Service. Charles loved his Family, Neighbors, Friends and his Friday night "socials" at the house, where he would catch up on all the local happenings. Charles was preceded in death by his father, L J Sonnenberg; mother, Marguerite (Tinkler) Sonnenberg; two brothers; Arthur Sonnenberg and Bruce Sonnenberg. Charles is survived by his wife Dorris of twenty-seven years; son Chuck Sonnenberg and wife Amy of San Angelo; daughter Carla Sorenson and husband Rick of Midland; son Mike Saunders of Bronte; six grandchildren; Melissa Montez of San Antonio; Garrett Davidson and wife Julie of Odessa; Kolton Sonnenberg of San Angelo; Jaylon Saunders of Bronte; Madeline Davidson of College Station; and Kord Sonnenberg of San Angelo; one great-granddaughter; Gracie Mae Davidson of Odessa; one brother, Otto Sonnenberg and wife Georganna of Early and one sister Wilma Haynie of San Angelo; two sister-in-laws; Fran Sonnenberg of Bronte and Donna Raines of Sumner; and numerous nieces and nephews. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at the home of Charles and Dorris, located at 424 South Franklin in Bronte, Texas, Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 2 pm. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations be made to East Coke County Ambulance Service at PO Box 357, Bronte, Texas 76933.
