J. Adkins near Sanco. Heart failure is thought to be the cause of her death, she had just finished eating supper when she leaned over on her hands and died peacefully. Mrs. Bird has been in Coke county for thirty eight years having moved here in 1887 from Henderson county with her husband and children. Deseased was born in Mississippi July 1, 1853 and died October 9, 1925, she was married to Miller Bird July 2, 1868. To this union six children were born, three girls and three boys all of whom were present at the funeral except a daughter, Mrs. G. C. Berryman of Lincoln, Nebraska. Those present were Mrs. J. G. Berrymand and children of Littlefield, Charles Bird and family of Lamesa, Mrs. Adkins, Smith and Ira Bird all live in Coke county. She was converted and at the age of thirteen united with the Methodist church and lived a devoted christian life, all who knew her loved her. She was buried at Sanco by the side of her husband who passed on to his reward a few years ago. Funeral services were held by the Rev. Robert Lee.
