J. E. Eddie Roberts, 51 a resident of Robert Lee for 40 years, died in a San Angelo Hospital, Friday, January 11,1941 at 5 o’clock following a weeks illness. Funeral services were held at the Robert Lee Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred D. Blake, pastor, with interment in Robert Lee Cemetery with Cliff Funeral Home directing. Pall bears were Paul Good, Willis Smith, Warren Bessent, Lowell Roane, John Williams, Carroll Russell, Orville Davis, and Gene Wojtek. Mr. Roberts was a businessman in Robert Lee. Born Jan. 11, 1895 at Harwood, Gonzales Co., Texas, deceased had resided in Coke Co. since 1900. Survivors include his wife, Viva Stroud Roberts, two daughters, Luda Roberts who works at Goodfellow Field, and Wilma Robert of Robert Lee; one son Stroud, of Robert Lee; four sisters, Mrs. J. C. Wallace, Mrs. Odie Benton and Mrs. E. C. Davis of Robert Lee, and Mrs. Leta Stroud of San Angelo; three brothers, Artell, Lee, and Earl, all of Robert Lee. He was the son of Green and Emma Daniels Roberts. The bereaved ones will have the condolence of a wide circle of friends in this time of sadness.
