(Watts Creek Church, Coleman Co., Texas) The Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church of Christ feels the deepest regret to assume the task of paying the last tribute of respect to our beloved sister in Christ, Mrs. Eliza P. Brooke. Who after an illness of several months departed this life of the dreaded disease consumption, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gene Harvey, Wednesday, November 10, 4 P.M., 1909 leaving five children, two sons and three daughters, and many friends to morn her departure. She was carried to the Coleman Cemetary, where her friends had gathered to look for the last time on the dear face and form they had loved so well. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. G.L. Morris, her pastor. All was done that loving children, kind freinds, and best physicans could do but God will otherwise and took her spirit home. The church and community deeply feels the loss of such a noble worker for the Master. Oh, her life was such as to lead many souls to the Lamb of God. Words are unexpressible to describe the true nobility of her character. She was loved in character. She was born in Sampson County N.C. May 10th 1850, In Freestone County Jan. 8th., 1873 was married to J.G. Brooke, moved to Coleman County in 1885 (actually 1879). In 1887 the Lord for some purpose called her companion away, leaving her with five little children of which she had reared to be noble men and women and true followers of the Master, always willing to advance the cause of the Allwise One as she had done before them. Oft have we heard her thank God for the salvation of her dear children. She left this world that they would meet her there. On that hapy golden shore, Where the saints meet to part no more. She has gone home to stay, Meet me there. Now to the bereaved, we as a body extend our deep sympathy and prayer that you may ever look to the blessed Lamb of God remembering he has promised to never leave nor forsake thee. He has called her away yet his Holdy Spirit will comfort thee. She's gone but not forgotten. She is just waiting beyond the tide. Becoming to friends and loved ones, Meet me on the other side. She has but higher gone, At our dear Masters call. Still numbered with the selfsame fold. One God above us all. She is with Christ. She waits for us as for an expected guest, Who may be nearer than we think To that sweet land of rest. Let thoughts of her our aching hearts, With hope and goodness fill, And may the calm that rest on her, Our troubled spirit fill. An now dear mother, Fare thee well, How we miss thee none can tell. But Jesus called and all is well. Mrs. Jennie Henderson Mrs. Lon Fry Mrs. Minnie Marshall Committee Elder G.L. Morris, moderator W.A. Seal, Clerk. -----------------
