BROOKE, 92, DIES THIS MORNING; RITES SLATED FRIDAY Joe R. Brooke, 92, resident of Coleman County since 1879, died this (Thursday) morning at 12:25 in Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are slated at 2:00 p.m. , Friday, January 22, 1971, in Stevens Memorial Chapel with Rev. J.K. Holmes as officiating minister. Mr. Brooke, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph G. Brooke, was born in Freestone County February 12, 1878, and married January 3, 1909, to Eva E. Henderson, who passed away January 17, 1950. A retired stock farmer, he was a member of the Baptist church and Downtown Sunday School Class. Surviving him are three sons, J.B. Brooke of Abilene, Joe C. of Santa Anna, and Coy of Brownwood; one sister, Mrs. Anna Ransberger of Burbank, Cal., seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Interment was in Coleman Cemetery, Coleman, TX under direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
