		MRS. SCOTT DIES IN FIRE AT HER HOME

Mrs. Myrtle Scott, age 87, of Santa Anna, Texas died Sunday, Jan. 9, 1977 
at approximately 9:35 p.m. in a fire at her residence.
   
   Funeral services were held this morning (Tuesday), Jan. 11, 10:30 a.m.
in the Henderson Funeral Home Chapel at Coleman, due to a phase of
remodeling at the funeral home in Santa Anna, Rev. Wright Price, pastor of
the First Baptist Church of Santa Anna, officiated and interment was in the
Santa Anna Cemetery under direction of Henderson Funeral Home.
    
    Born August 16, 1889 in Ellis County, Texas, she was the daughter of
J.D. and Frances Webb Sparks in Ellis County, Texas. She had lived in
Coleman County since 1905 and attended school in Santa Anna. She retired as
a telephone operator in 1961 and was a member of the First Christian Church.
Mrs. Scott was married in 1906 to Willis Ashley, who died in 1931. Then she
married John B. Scott on Feb. 1, 1934 in Santa Anna. He died in 1953.

She is survived by one son Darrel Ashley and daughter-in-law Ruth Ashley and
many nieces and nephews.
