Thomson died at his home in this city last Tuesday afternoon and was buried in the city cemetery with Masonic honors Wednesday at four o'clock, a large number of friends and acquaintances following his remains to the grave. Mr. Thomson was one of the early Texas pioneers, having come to this state in 1837 in his early boyhood. He became one of those brave frontiersman who with toil and perseverance and with much privation carved an empire out of a wilderness. At the time of his death he was in the 79th year, having celebrated his 78th birthday on the 7th of last month. For years he has been in robust health. Mr. Thomson was born in Tennessee in 1832 and came to Texas as stated above. He was twice married. First to Miss Amelia Easly, of Alabama. From this union one child, Winn Thomson of Carrizo Springs, Texas who is now living. His second marriage was to Miss Sarah Bray of Louisiana. There are six living children from this marriage: Mrs. W.J. Hunter, of Alabama; Messrs. Eli and Harry Thomson, of Coleman; Ollie Thomson of Paris, Texas; Miss Lee Thomson of Waco; and Miss Eva Thomson of this place. Plain and unpretentious, even modest in his disposition Mr. Thomson never assumed an air of superiority toward his fellow men. Modestly he has done his country the greatest service possible by raising a family of men and women who are a credit to the state in which they live.
