Thursday morning, Nevada sold her first bale of cotton, it was grown by Mr. Eli Brown of Lavon. It was sold to Moore & Bollow, at 6 1/8 cts. and with the premium given, Mr. Brown realized the neat little sum of $56.18 from it. Marshall Barnett and his hoe brigade waged a very destructive warfare on the weeds and burs on the streets and alleys of Nevada yesterday. That is right Andrew clean out the town. BLUE RIDGE Blue Ridge, Tex., Sept. 1, '95 Editor Democrat Cotton picking has begun. J.A. Barnett has ginned about twenty bales of cotton up to date. J.C. Saunders is talking of moving in the dwelling near the gin formerly occupied by W.A. Smith, where he will be employed as book-keeper. W.A. Smith is erecting a nice dwelling in the north part of town. The new school building is nearing completion. Prof. C.F. Trotter arrived on the Ridge Sunday, back from his Missouri visit. S.P. Kuykendall is erecting a neat dwelling near the college. Methodists are holding a protracted meeting at this place. The Baptists held a series of meetings with good success, adding about twenty to their number (the rest of the column is too dark to read) --- DEATHS Miss Collie Lacy, aged 21 years died Aug. 28th from consumption. Agnes Morris, aged 18 months died Aug. 28 of fever. Ed Kelley, aged 24 years, died Aug. 29 of consumption. Infant of Mr. and Mrs. John Reynold died Aug. 28. Miss Sallie Fielder, aged 19 years, died Aug. 29 of typhoid fever. Infant of Mr. and Mrs. I.A. Armstrong died Sept. 3. Alma Ingram, son of W.D. In- gram of this city, died in Brown County Sept. 1. Emma Richardson, aged 3 years, died Aug. 30 of typhoid fever. Little Leslie Lee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Bullock, died Saturday, Aug. 31 at their resi- dence on College Hill. burial at Pecan Grove cemetery Sunday morning. Mrs. Henry Bush died at the residence of her husband, 9 miles east of McKinney, yesterday af= ter an illness of over 100 days with fever. Burial today at Rowlett, 10 miles southwest of McKinney. William Duncan, aged 23, died at the residence of his father, Jim Duncan, in the Bowlly community, Aug. 29th, after a long illness of typhoid fever. Burial next day in the Scott cemetery. William, who was a sober, industrious young man, professed religion on his death bed and expressed his entire readiness and willingness to die to his parents. ...
