W. Lindsey has moved into his new home. Dr. Ellis of Wood Co. will locate here. L. B. Collins and wife were here in Mckinney, yesterday. Wheat crops in this part of the county bid fair for a good yield. Rucker & Co. sold 42 bales of cotton at McKinney Friday for 5 or 3.44. (It could be $.44) Dr. Hunter will go to Melissa soon where he will practice medicine in the future. C. H. Warden and W. F. Cameron with their families visited Stiff Chapel, Sunday. Rev. W. H. Dunn of Greenville filled the pulpit at the Baptist Church here Sunday and Sunday night. The Altoga Cemetery association met last Tues. night and elected officers for the ensuing year. Misses Ida Boyer and Ethel Belew of the Johnson Community attended Sunday School at this place Sun. afternoon. Dave Watkins attended the entertainment at Mrs. Grisham's near Wombles Store, Friday night. He reports a splendid time. Jan 24, 1899--- T. C. Reedy / Beedy has returned from the country where he had been engaged in building wire fences. Cliff Emerson, Plymonth Rock chicken breeder of the city was here hunting fine birds of that breed Saturday. Jan 1, 1896-- James Thomas Andrews and sister, Miss Anna, dined the following young people Sunday at their father, Esq. J. T. Andrews's residence in East McKinney. Misses Nora Barron, Allie Sparlin, Lula Findley, Myrtie Burras and Dora Roberts : Messers. John Younger, Will Boone, Kit Clark, Ed Bomar, Frank Howell and J. M. Andrews. Prof. and Mrs. C. C. Cross entertained a party of their young friends at their residence in South McKinney Friday night. The affair was one which Christmas cheer and jolity was in evidence. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Crouch gave a progressive conversation party Tuesday evening at their beautiful new residence on North Church Street. James Rhea won the honors of the evening. The guests were D. H. McDaniel and Miss Terry, Volney Coleman and Miss Mary Herndon, John Young and Miss Lottie Eubanks, James Rhea and Miss Bessie Howard, W. F. Cobb and Miss Kate Love / Lowe, Fred Burnett and Miss Allie Dowell, Charlie Adams and Miss Bertie Clement, Vernie Graves and Miss Edna Clardy. Last Friday, Miss Epsie Strickland opened the doors of her elegant parlor to her friends and made them welcome until noon, when they were invited into the dining room where they were seated around one of the best filled tables that had been spread during the holidays. A fine turkey was served, along with everything else that goes to make a first class dinner. The following were the invited guests : Misses Mattie Neel, Emma Moore, Sophia Moore, Pearl Bagley, Mr. W. D. O'Guinn and wife and Joe Strickland of Farmersville. All did justice to the many good things and left wishing Miss Epsie a" Happy New Year".
