A son of Col. Bill Farmer was one of the speackers of the day. Mrs. L.C. Largent, Charley Largent and family of Melisgn (sic), attended the funeral of Mrs. J.E. Largent Tuesday. Hon. R.H. Thompson, of Denison, paid a hurried, business visit to McKinney yesterday. We are sorry to not that Hugh Branch, who has been seriously sick for some time, is not any better. Cleveland is slow to sign the tariff bill, but the people are not slow to buy groceries from Tommy Jones. Mrs. Raney Morris died Friday night and was buried at Pecan Grove cemetery Saturday evening. Mr. Tom Young's infant daughter died Sunday and was buried at the Noyes graveyard Monday. A ten day's discussion on three propositions is not in progress at the Baptist church, between the Methodists and Christians, respectively by Rev. R.W. Alderson and Elder A.P. Terrell. They are both ministers of more than ordinary ability and are listened to with the closest attention, each day, by packed audiences. Fred Hucaby and family, of Honey Grove, Tex., visited his grandmother, Mrs. H.W. Kerr, of Bloomdale, the early part of the week. We have employed Walter B. Wison, who will act as local editor and general solisitor for The Democrat. As an upright, able young man we commend him to the public and all contracts made by him in behalf of The Democrat will be valid. All courtesies extended to him will be highly appreciated by the proprietors of this paper.
