R. Childress. Frank Brown spent Saturday night in McKinney with his sister, Mrs. Dixie Watkins. Miss Vera Gross who has been ill of influenza has returned home from school to rest up awhile. Wynona Brown, who had been out of school for the past three weeks on account of the influenza has returned to McKinney to resume her school work again. The Working Girl's Club met with Miss Agnes Comer, Friday afternoon. Those present were: Misses Vera Gross, Wynona Brown, Buna Culwell, Myra Mae Childress, and Alma McDonald. Refreshments of hot chocolate and sandwiches were served, which were greatly enjoyed by all. After attending to new business the members adjourned until the next meeting which is to be held with Miss Buna Culwell. Our little city has been saddened by the deaths of so many people in and around it who have died of pneumonia which developed from influenza. Among those who have died recently are : Maude Brown, Nora Moseley, Barbara Broyles, Sidney Peebles, Spencer Farnsworth, Grandpa Gribble, Willie Hamilton, Mrs. Doc Terrell, Mr. Crossland, Mrs. G. C. Mitchell. Those who are ill with it are : Dave Hardin and wife, Mrs. Gilbert, Rembert Gilbert, Dalton Gilbert and wife and baby, Edith Brown, Albert Gracy and Ola Artman. Miss Myra Mae Childress threw open the doors of her home and entertained with a luncheon in honor of Royse Bomar of Wentz. A three course dinner was served and cards were placed for the following guests : Messrs. Royse Bomar of Wentz, Frank Brown, Bailey Gilbert, and Misses Agnes Comer, Buba Culwell,Wynona Brown, Vera Gross and Alma McDonald. The table was daintily laid and the yellow chrysanthe-mums and pink roses made it even more beautiful. The color scheme was carried out perfectly throughout the entire luncheon. The hostess asked Miss Comer to offer a toast in honor of the honor guest, Mr. Bomar, which she did very gracefully. After all had eaten until the "good eats" looked no longer good to them, the guests retired to the living room where Mr. Childress was found to be a wonderful joke teller. McKinney Newspaper Nov. 11, 1904 Denison, Texas---All the avti-toxin serum for tetanus owned by physicians or to be purchased at the drug stores in this city was exhausted, yesterday, in case of tetanus which is being treated by a local physician and a additional supply of serum was secured from Sherman sources and will be used. The victim of the dread disease is Lawrence Terrell of Ardath, Collin County. Tuesday morning, while at work on his farm, Mr. Terrell stepped on the rusty blade of a hoe. Wednesday, symptons of tetanus began to develop and he was brought to Denison by relatives in order to take the serum treatment. The physician, under whose care Terrell was placed, worked with the patient all day, up to 1 o'clock last night, when he grew somewhat easier. The case is doing as well as possible and the physician has hopes of saving the patient's life if the serum takes effect soon enough to counteract the effect of the tetanus germ. Mr. Terrell. mentioned above, is a brother of M. T. Terrell of Ardath who, it will be remembered, was the victim of a peculiar accident about two weeks ago, in which he lost an ear. He was returning home from McKinney with an empty cotton wagon when his bridle broke and his team ran away. The wagon was turned bottom side up and Mr. Terrell was caught beneath. The sideboard of the wagon cut off his left ear close to his head.
