The Daily Courier-Gazette, published at McKinney, makes the following comment on the death of our young fellow-townsman: The deceased was born in McKinney on October 16, 1889, but had not lived here since he was a small boy. His father was one of the firm of Tackett & Allen, who for several years operated stores at Plano and Allen, in this county, removing to Emory about 9 years ago where they have established a business. He was a member of the Baptist Church and had been since he was 11 years old. At the time of his death he was head buyer for the firm of which his father was a member. The train was met at Greenville by a large number of traveling men, who filled the car with beautiful floral offerings. Upon arrival here the body was conveyed to the home of his uncle, W.C. Allen, where religious services were held, conducted by the pastor of the deceased, Rev. D.W. Garvin of Emory, assisted by Dr. E.E. King, pastor of the First Baptist Church of this city. Interment was made in Pecan Grove cemetery at 3 o’clock Sunday evening. ~ ~ ~ The Rains County Leader, April 12, 1912 To every one who helped us during the illness and putting way of our beloved son and nephew, Edmond, we thank you sincerely.
