McMahan, who died in the McKinney City Hospital at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, March 6, 1926 was buried in Pecan Grove Cemetery here at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the presence of a large concourse of people. Funeral services were conducted at the White's Grove Methodist Church of which she was a Charter Member, having joined that Church August 30, 1881 or 45 years ago, with her husband, who survives. -Was A Lovejoy- The maiden name of the deceased was Annie Lovejoy. She was born on Blossom Prairie in Lamar County, May 29, 1850, She was the daughter of George Lovejoy who moved here with his family to McKinney when his daughter was an infant. At the time of her death, Mrs. McMahan was seventy-five years, nine months, and seven days old. She had spent practically her entire life in the White's Grove Commuity, where she lived when she died with the exception of two years that she and her husband resided in McKinney for school purposes about 30 years ago The deceased was happily united in marriage October 30, 1873 in Collin County to Malcolm C. McMahan. The deceased and her husband were not blessed with children of their own but they reared five or six orphan children. Among them were Miss. Edna Burk , who's now Mrs. Edna Nale of Fort Worth; Willie Shelton of Oklahoma City, Ok.; and two Hollomon children, who are grown but still living in the home with their foster parents when Mrs. McMahan passed away. They also cared for other orphans. The deceased was the last member of her immediate family to die. A sister, Mrs. Jack Allen, died two years ago at Chico, Tx. One of her 2 brothers George Lovejoy Jr. died in infancy. Her other brother, the late John L. Lovejoy III died in McKinney a few years ago. He was President of the First National Bank of this city and one of our cities most prominent citizens and widest known capitalists. KMN-12 Dec. 2002
