Virginia D. Bates, 86, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on April 26, 2008, at
her home.

She was born on Jan. 18, 1922, in McKinney, Texas, the daughter of James Clay
and Minnie L. (Crutcher) Duncan. On Oct. 16, 1965, she married Forrest B.
Bates in McKinney.

Mrs. Bates was a homemaker and a member of North Baptist Church in McKinney.

She is survived by her daughter Jan Burnside of McKinney; grandson, Michael
Burnside of McKinney; great-grandchildren, Michaela and Tristan Burnside of
McKinney; sister, Frances Mantooth of McKinney; brother, Joe Duncan of
McKinney; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Forrest B. Bates, in January 2008;
and her sister, Jimmie Bilderback.

A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at
Walnut Grove Cemetery in Prosper, Texas, with Rev. Danny Buster officiating.

Family and friends are invited to the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home
at their convenience on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, to pay their respects and to
sign the register book.
