She was born on Jan. 7, 1927, in Houston, Texas, to Clarence Henry and Beulah Pearl (Tolar) Prescott. On May 8, 1945, she married John Vernon Cantrell in Houston. Mrs. Cantrell was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her husband, John V. Cantrell of Kerrville; daughters, Judy Tannery and husband, Roger of McKinney; Lynda Comegys and husband, John of Kerrville; son, John Cantrell, Jr. and wife, Maria of McKinney; five grandchildren, Blake Tannery and wife, Allison, Wick Comegys and wife, Jogee, Michael Comegys and wife, Amanda, Sina Brown and husband, David, and John Cantrell III and wife, Brenda; great grandchildren, Jake Tannery, Katherine Tannery, Blue Tannery, Hart Tannery, Lauren Comegys, Karin Comegys, Brian Comegys, Matt Comegys, Luke Comegys, and Emily Brown. Mrs. Cantrell was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jane Staples; and granddaughter, Karin Comegys. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, with Rev. Woody Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Stoney Point Cemetery in Melissa, Texas.
