Funeral services were held from his late home Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Dr. E. B. Fincher, pastor of the Presbyterian church, assisted by the Rev. A. J. Seale, pastor of the North McKinney Baptist church. Interment was in Pecan Grove cemetery. Mr. Dale was a native of Texas. He was born at Clarksville Red River county, where he lived many years and then came to Collin county, having lived in and near McKinney for that length of time. During the Civil war he served the Southern Confederacy as a courier under Gen. McCullough. His service was principally in the Gainesville, Clarksville and Paris sections. He was too young to enter the army but ably and efficiently performed the duty of a courier, a very important and hard place to fill. He is survived by his widow and eight children, as follows: James Dale at home; Mrs. Effie Stiff, Mrs. Pearl Rollins, McKinney; Mrs. Irene Jones of Sherman; Mrs. Katherine Brown, McKinney; Robert Charles and Web Dale, who live at the family home in this city. He is also survived by one sister Mrs. Mollie Cotner, of Nevada. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, his membership being held with the Lavon church. He had a large number of friends here who mourn his passing.
