Tillerson, Celina druggist since the early nineteen twenties died suddenly in his store, Jones Pharmacy, Thursday afternoon about 2:45. He was writing a letter when he was stricken and he lived for only a few minutes. Funeral arrangements at Morgan Scott Funeral Home had not been completed when the record when to press. (The Celina Record, December 9, 1965). Funeral services for Earl O. Tillerson, Celina Drug Store proprietor and registered pharmacist were held Saturday at 10 o’clock at the First Baptist Church in Celina, Texas. Officiating were Rev. E. H. Dickerson, past of the church, Rev. J. T. Bledsoe, pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church and Maynard Atkins of the Church of Christ. Masonic services followed in Restland Memorial in Dallas, Texas. Morgan Scott Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Tillerson died suddenly of a heart attack while he was at work in his store Thursday afternoon. He had suffered prior attacks but for a number of months was feeling well and was working regularly at his store, Jones Pharmacy. Mr. Tillerson was born in the Alla Community, November 29, 1893, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Tillerson and was educated in the Alla and Celina Public Schools. He served 21 months in the armed forces during and immediately after the First World War. He was assigned to a Cook’s and Baker’s School in Fort Sam Houston at the time the war ended. He then joined the Marines and joined in the army of occupation for six months. He started to work September 15, 1925 in Jones Pharmacy for the late Robert A. Jones, as a soda fountain and front man and from that time and till his death, he was never disassociated from the store. In 1932, he completed pharmaceutical studies and became a registered pharmacist. Following the death of Mr. Jones, he became a partner with Mrs. Jones in ownership of the store and in 1960, he became sole owner. On October 23, 1923, Mr. Tillers and Zena Mae Howard of Celina were married. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge. Survivors are his wife; son, Edwin Earl Tillerson of Katy, Texas; ….. (The Celina Record December 1965)
