All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Fred Marks Obituary Death Saturday took Fred Marks, a familiar Celina, Texas figure. Mrs. Marks found him dead in bed when she called him to breakfast. Mr. Marks, a retired wholesale gasoline and oil dealer lived at 707 West Pecan Street. He was born June 1, 1892 on a farm about three quarters of a mile west of Chambersville, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs J. A. Marks. He had lived in Celina and West Collin except about a year in San Bernadino, California. Mr. Marks and Bessie Callahan were married December 5, 1914. Mr. Marks had retired several years ago as a Sinclair wholesale agent in Celina. He went with Sinclair in 1942 and recently had been employed by a Celina auto dealer and in time owned and operated his own service station. Survivors are his wife; two sons, Glen Marks of Lamesa, California and Wayne Mark of Grand Prairie, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Tucker and Mrs. Lenorah Duvall of Celina, Texas and Miss Bessie Francis of McKinney, Texas; two brothers, Roy Marks of Clovis, New Mexico and and J. L. Marks of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren. Services were held Monday morning at 10:30 in the Cottage Hill Methodist Church with Rev. J. T. Bledsoe, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church and Rev. Arthur Renfro, pastor of the Wesley Memorial Baptist Church of McKinney officiating. Burial was in Cottage Hill Cemetery under direction of Morgan-Scott Funeral Home. Pallbearers were J. T. Grubbs, Paul O’Brien, Roy Mayes, Byron Tucker, Claude Duvall and Claude Melton. (From the Celina Record, December 24, 1964)
