Mr. Godwin died July 16 in McKinney. The Rev. Darrell Sanderline officiated. Mr. Godwin was born on Dec. 3, 1920, in Princeton to John Gerard and Clara (Rains) Godwin. He married Hazel Marie Williams on July 18, 1945, in McKinney. He served his country during World War II in the United Sates Army and was a Prisoner of War. Mr. Godwin retired from E-Systems in 1981, where he had been an aircraft assembler. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Princeton, the Veterans of Foreign War and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Hazel; sons, Donny Godwin and his wife Vicky of Melissa and Richard Godwin and his wife Lorrie of Garland; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ethylene Shipp Lubbock. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dub and Ed Godwin; and sister, Evelyn Spaugh.
