Gooch, 76, of Greenville died the morning of July 24, 2008, at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. A graveside service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Memoryland Memorial Park under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Johnny Kimberlin and Rev. Johnny Hailes will officiate. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Son of Mack and Mary Ethel Spurgin Gooch, he was born April 13, 1932, in Collin County. Mr. Gooch served in the U.S. Army. On Oct. 10, 1952, he married Freda Frances Reeves in Greenville. He worked as a fireman for nine years; owned an asphalt and concrete business, and worked part-time at the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum. Mr. Gooch was a member of Park Street Baptist Church. He was a former Precinct 3 commissioner. Surviving are his wife of Greenville; a son, Mark Gooch of Dallas; two daughters, Lori Gooch Harrell of Greenville and Lisa Gooch of Denton; brother Forest Gooch of Greenville; a sister, Bessie Morphew of Greenville; and a grandchild, William Harrell. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Burton Gooch and R.E. Gooch; and sister Geneva Kimberlin. Pallbearers will be Mason Gooch, Clifford Kimberlin, Matthew Kimberlin, Tony Kimberlin, Jonatha Long and Alan Parton.
