McMahan, 83, Dies In California Formerly Lived Here~ Relatives and friends in this city and county have learned of the death of Henderson McCammish McMahan, 83, which occured at Bell Gardens, Calif. Tuesday June 24th. 1941 Mr. McMahan, a long time resident of Collin County, will be remembered as a well known farmer and citizen of the White's Grove Community. He moved away from Collin County about 10 or 12 years ago. Mr. McMahan was born in Tennessee September 22, 1858. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Eastus, who preceded him in death several years ago. He made his home with his son, Lyles McMahan in El Paso for several years until 9 months ago when he went to California to visit his sons, Ted & Bowie McMahan. The body is being returned to El Paso, Tx. where funeral services will be held Saturday, burial following in that city. Surviving are the following children: Thomas Carlton McMahan of Dallas, Tx.; John Gibson McMahan of Bell Gardens, Calif.; Lyles Dewitt McMahan of El Paso, Tx.; Theodore Roosevelt "Ted" McMahan of Bell Gardens, Calif.; Lloyd Bowie McMahan of Bell Gardens, Calf.; and Pauline Elizabeth McMahan Waters of Chicago, Ill. He is also survived by a step-daughter, Mrs. Lucille McRae of Alamagorda, New Mexico. Two Grand-children and two Great-Grandchildren and a sister-in-law living in Ft. Worth, Texas. His wife, the late Elizabeth Eastus, was the sister of the late Mrs. T.B. Wilson of this city, Mr. McMahan being an uncle by marriage to Add G. Wilson and Mrs. P.B. McEntire of this city. The death of this well known former Collin County man will be regretted by a host of friends and aquaintances in this city and county, who extend condolances to members of the bereaved family. While Mr. McMahan had resided in El Paso and California for many years he never lost interest in his old home Community, but kept posted by reading the newsy letters sent in by the Examiner's White's Grove reporters, the Brimers and the William's. Mr. McMahan was a good man, a Christian character, and his going is a loss to his loved ones and the Community.
